Angola's gaming regulator runs a workshop on how to get a gaming authorisation
Angola's Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ) held a workshop in Luanda on 8 October 2026 explaining how operators and promoters obtain gaming authorisations under its Instruction No. 2/26. The focus was promotional raffles, prize contests and importing amusement gaming equipment.
This is an Angolan story with no direct effect on South African players. It still matters as a sign that regulators across southern Africa are putting more effort into clear licensing procedures and voluntary compliance. South Africans comparing casinos should keep in mind that no local operator holds a licence for online casino games, and that rules in neighbouring markets do not apply here.
What happened
The Instituto de Supervisão de Jogos (ISJ), Angola's gaming supervision body, held a workshop in Luanda on Thursday 8 October 2026. It took place at the University Extension of UCAN and was attended by the deputy director general, senior technical staff and representatives of gaming operators and promoters.
What it covered
The session explained the guidelines in Instruction No. 2/26, dated 15 April 2026. Topics included:
- rules for promotional and advertising raffles that use random draws for commercial or marketing purposes
- compliance requirements for prize contests
- the procedure for legally importing amusement gaming materials
Operators were also given the chance to ask the regulator questions and share their own experience.
The regulator's message
According to iGaming Afrika, the director general, Nerethz Tati, said procedures need to be clear and properly understood by everyone involved, and that submitting complete applications on time speeds up processing. The institute describes the aim as encouraging voluntary compliance and preventive, information-led supervision.
What it means for South African readers
There is no change for players in South Africa. The story is useful background on how a neighbouring regulator works. If you are weighing up an offshore casino, read our casino reviews and remember that "accepts South African players" is not the same as "licensed in South Africa".
What to watch next
Look for further ISJ guidance, any enforcement against unauthorised operators, and whether other regional regulators run similar sessions.
